In
depth: Intruder flies low over the desert and drops a Zone
Pod which becomes a generator. Overlord on board deploys step
two: a large blocky shape that drills into the ground (in
Gibraltar we find out later) and sprouts cannons. Step three
involves Dire and Bandit manning the guns and aiming at Madrid,
Spain and Lisbon, Portugal. The cannons fire out Zone Pods,
which land in the cities and countries selected, zoning them
instantly. The cannons keep firing, zoning more parts of Egypt
and other nations. Overlord commands they keep firing till
he can send Zoners. McFarland sends them to destroy the cannons
before everything within range is zoned. The rock is difficult
to approach from three sides. Hiro points out that if Overlord
doesn't see all of them, he'll suspect something. So Dr. Laurence
has a plan to prevent that with dummies that maintain normal
body heat and will be on remote control cycles.
Courage in Eagle lays out his plan for hitting the rock. Ned
says it's a pretty rocky climb and wants a more muscular partner
than Kat. Dirk says the orders stand as the Zone Riders deploy
a mini sub which heads to the coast while the plane lands
nearby on the flatlands. Courage and his men deploy, and Overlord
sees all seven.
Ned and Kat leave the minisub to tackle the steep climb. Ned
uses his climbing gear backpack and wants to lead they way,
and Kat calls him on his believe women are weaker. Elsewhere
with Courage, Overlord attacks in force with Sledge Hammer
tanks. Hiro blasts a few and Ben gets in some good shots.
Max uses the remote control Zone Riders to good use as well.
They spot a rock formation at 10 o'clock, and have to maneuver
over it.
Back on the southern face, Tucker falls from the cliff unexpectedly
and Kat has to pull hum to safety. The cord begins to unravel
slowly as Tucker looks on. Suddenly a sensor goes off alerting
Overlord who suspects more Zone Rider suits have been made.
Zoner guards are deployed to prevent attack, while Tucker
is still in danger. He manages to grab Katarina's hand in
time . They then head towards the bunker. Ned offers his thanks.
Courage and the others blast through zoners and form a wedge.
Max's two Zone Rider dummies are blown away by enemy fire,
and Max is on his own. Overlord discovered two were dummies.
He orders the attack be pressed. Courage notes that Kat and
Ned are discovered and additional forces have been sent to
deal with them. Kat fires at the Widows while Ned makes a
run for it. He blasts in, stunning zoners. There are quite
a few, and the battle goes poorly, although outside Kat destroys
a tank. Ned finally wipes out the zoners and calls for Kat
as more troops pour in. Overlord then orders everyone back
to the bunker to protect it. Courage and crew remount and
move out.
Ned and Kat run in and stun the marksmen and set their bombs
right away. They run into the reinforcements just as they
are getting ready to leave. Bandit and Courage are in a race
to the bunker and Ned and Kat are surrounded. They attempt
to break out by stunning Rawmeat and his zoners, and escape
as Razorback and others arrive. Kat and Ned go to the generator
to blow it, and Overlord departs on Bull Whip to accomplish
the mission personally. Tank is sent to retrieve Eagle. Suddenly
the fortress explodes from the charges and Overlord curses
the Zone Riders. Then the generator is blown and Overlord
swears to win later. Kat and Ned have a discussion in which
they agree Ned is not as prejudiced towards women as he sounds,
Items
Noticed: The minisub launched from Eagle is a standard UN
model, as last seen aboard the U.S.S. Tigershark in "Seachase".
Notes:
Overlord's most useful scheme yet - if only he had more Black
Widows, they could have executed the plan in two locations.
Yet Overlord's desire to hold on to power remains his Achilles'
heel.
What
do we learn? Gibraltar has been zoned, along with much of
the surrounding area including much of Spain, Portugal and
North Africa.
Goof
ups: At 9:52, Tank's cycle can be seen firing lasers out of
its headlight. Sigh.
