In depth: The Zone Riders are on another mission to destroy a generator in St. Louis. From the Arch, Overlord commands the battle. When Rimfire is disabled, they fall back to the Eagle. Kat has a close call with Bull Whip and is knocked into the water. The others are forced to retreat leaving her behind. Bandit is sent out to find her with a heat source tracker. Following a robots lead, she proceeds to the top of Gateway Tower, which is under construction.

Overlord is apparently installing a nanowave transmitter on Gateway Tower that will disrupt U.N. communications. The Eagle is then attacked by Black Widows and lifts off. Kat finds construction workers who have been trapped for months above the Zone and have no idea about Overlord or the Zone Riders. They take her suit since the robot is damaged and she is forced into combat with their leader Sullivan for a place to survive. Kat almost beats Sullivan, but saves him from falling. Intruder arrives to harass the workers with laser fire. The Black Widows arrive to capture the men.

In Eagle, Dr. Laurence joins the Riders to plot the destruction of the nanowave transmitter. On the tower, Overlord informs Razorback that within 1,000 meters, all life will be destroyed around the transmitter. Descending into the Zone, Kat and Sullivan program the robot shortly before being Zoned. Once Overlord leaves, the robot hits the button to raise them out of the Zone. Kat then alters the transmitter with Sullivan's help.

The Zone Riders set the charges on the West side of the building and get them ready to blow. Intruder chases the Zone Riders on foot who retreat in Eagle. Kat then radios the Zone Riders who rescues her and Sullivan from the building as it falls. The building crushes the Zone Generator, and Courage receives and official reprimand for changing the charge pattern, but is officially congratulated by McFarland.

Items Noticed: Hiro's orange personal propulsion device is very similar to items available to divers today. Another successful future prediction by SPIRAL ZONE.

Notes: As visible from a side by side shot, it appears Eagle is a specially modified version of a UN transport (the gold planes seen often).

What do we learn? Gateway Tower, which is over one mile high, was under construction in St. Louis when the SPIRAL ZONE hit in June of 2007. It's located at Map Grid 4 Delta 6.

Apparently the Zone is anywhere from 1/2 mile to 3/4 of a mile tall, judging by the size of Gateway Tower. Taking the easy way out, that's 2,640 feet tall, or 805 meters tall.

The Zone has only been in place for months - as the construction crew has been living off what the robot can bring from the food lockers. This means at this point in the story, it is at least August, and more probably the winter months of 2007 considering the snowy locales they have visited previously (including Dirk Courage's Action Cassette, "Snow Zone").
