I recently had the good fortune of getting in touch with Michael Bell, the voice actor of Hiro Taka! Here's what he had to say about his memories of working on the SPIRAL ZONE animated series:
How did you get involved in voice acting?
Doing voice work is either a natural progression for on camera actors who have grown hair in their ears, and on their noses, and become large enough to wear a form fitting mumu...or just want to make enough money to eat and take shelter.

How did you get involved specifically with SPIRAL ZONE?
I guess Kushner-Locke took pity on me even after hearing my pathetic audition and gave me the role. However, after listening to the other actors work in my first session, I realized I was a far superior actor, and kept my distance from all of them. Especially Frank Welker who tried desperately to become friends. He still sends me gifts.

Tell me some fond memories you have of working on SPIRAL ZONE.
I recall we laughed a lot....at the director.

Do you have a favorite episode?
I can't even remember my daughter's name and you want me to recall an episode?
What kind of drugs are you on? Whatever they are, I want some. You have my address.

Why do you think SPIRAL ZONE wasn't a huge success, financially?
Because I wasn't the star.

Even though SPIRAL ZONE wasn't a financial success, do you personally regard the experience as successful and satisfying?

I dream about it nightly. It's very hard on my laundry bill.

I'd like to personally thank Michael Bell for taking the time to answer these questions. Michael Bell's agent is AVO Talent.
