In depth: Dr. Laurence is with the Zone Riders as Ned Tucker fires a cannon into the zone, penetrating the Zone wall and destroying the Zone generator. A reporter Linda Crane and her cameraman Roy are reporting on the top secret test, unbeknownst to M.C.C. Duchess Dire pinpoints the transmission to Southern Louisiana where Intruder is currently parked. Back at the test site, Dr. Laurence reveals that the "Zone Ripper" lens was designed by Ben Franklin, and this cannon is just a prototype.

Suddenly the Black Widows attack, and Courage orders Ben to protect the cannon while the others engage the enemy. Back on their hill, Linda and Roy discuss getting out, but Linda demands they stay. Ned Tucker decides to use the Zone Ripper offensively and fires at the Widows. It is no use, however, as Rawmeat rides in a destroys the cannon. The Zone Riders are dismayed at the loss of the cannon - as is Overlord! He wanted it captured, not destroyed! As the Widows withdraw, Crook notices the reporter Linda. As she broadcasts, she finds the Zone Ripper lens and prominently displays it on the air. M.C.C. arrests the reporters and sends them to New Orleans Sector Headquarters.

At Intruder, Overlord discusses her theft of the Zone Ripper lens with Crook. The Zone Riders are unaware she has it, until they review a tape of her broadcast. Nearby, the Black Widows attack and damage the car that M.C.C. troops are escorting Linda Crane in. As Overlord begins to search her, the Zone Riders arrive and attack the speedboats the Zoners are using to escape. Kat jumps aboard one and rids it of Zoners but is unable to prevent it from crashing into a tree. She pulls Linda out of the wreck, but she is unconscious. Zone interference nearby prevents Kat from contacting Courage. Kat falls asleep to wait for morning, when Linda tries to leave. A snake attacks Kat who defends Linda. Using her med kit, Kat is able to draw out most of the poison, but not all. Elsewhere Hiro and Dirk are pinned down with the Zoners in a standoff. Max breaches the lines to help Dirk. Hiro has a suggestion for breaking out as the Widows cower behind their tanks firing back. Behind the enemy line, Bandit uses ThermalScan to check the Zone Riders positions, but they do not appear. Suddenly a flare launches, blinding all of them who fire wildly. The Zone Riders escape in the middle of the confusion.

Back in the swamp, Kat is still suffering the effects of the venom, but manages to fire on an approaching alligator. The reporter begins to understand Kat's self sacrifice as a soldier. Courage and the rest are riding through the swamp, eluding the Black Widows. Linda nearby blasts some wood to keep her and Kat warm during the night. Linda apologizes for her actions to Kat as the Zone Rider falls unconscious.

Courage and the others have noticed the campfire and go to find Kat and Linda. Max notices Black Widow troops on OptaScan, so they must engage them first. Meanwhile, Linda hides Kats Needler in her purse and hides Kat behind a tree, but Bandit notices them. They have no time to react however because Rimfire and the Zoner Riders come over the ridge. Max and Dirk fight the Widows, delaying till backup arrives. Linda asks Kat what to do, who recommends firing the Needler pistol through the lens, which has become cracked. The beam is almost as powerful as the Zone Ripper was, and blasts a Sledge Hammer. Faced with overwhelming firepower, Overlord withdraws. Unfortunately the lens shatters under the usage. Linda leads Dirk to Kat, who is suffering under the effects of the venom.

They go to a hospital to attend Kat's recovery, and Dirk believes Linda might be let off easy by the Military Courts since she saved them. Kat remarks that perhaps both learned a new kind of bravery and that there are several kinds of truth.

Items Noticed: Rawmeat again uses his backpack weapon - the missile launcher.

Notes: Kat again uses her medical kit pouch - which contains some sort of venom extractor.

What do we learn? It appears that the Zone Ripper cannon may in fact be an improvement on Commander Courage's Tunnel Gun, with a more powerful lens.

Courage orders defense pattern Alpha Delta.

Rawmeat appears equipped with a futuristic laser shotgun appearing weapon - perhaps to have been his gun in toy form.

Bandit has ThermalScan on his helmet - one of the few Black Widows to use their equipment for more than just protecting their head!

Kat and Linda in the swamp are at coordinates 82.318.

Goof ups: When Courage fires his shoulder blasters, his Zone Rider insignia appears to recoil on his chest without his armor moving.

Quotable Quotes: "Control yourself, Duchess. Temper is so unattractive in a female." - Bandit
"Hey you can't…" - Linda Crane
"Madam, I just did!" - General McFarland, obviously angry.
