Commander Courage in Rimfire is being pursued by a Zone Rider cycle near a Refinery, limiting the Zone Riders ability to fire back. If Overlord gains the oil, half the free world will shut down. Meanwhile, Overlord and Bandit are coordinating the attack, and Overlord mentions that they've got to keep it up as all the pods are not in place yet. Hiro notes they are low on Ammo as a Zone Generator sprouts in front of him. Hiro is knocked off his cycle but rescured by Kat. Courage tells everyone to head for the Generator. Three more generators launch, and Overlord claims the sands of Amaran as his. Suddenly a group on horseback fire at the Zoners, sending them into the Zone. Courage notes mournfully that they can't destroy the Generators without destroying the Refinery also. The leader of the group reveals herself to be Sima, a warrior from Dirk's past. She wishes to help, but the others are suspicious. Dirk tells them to leave and report to General Followes at M.C.C.. As they leave, Max and Tank fall into a sinkhole in the desert. The Zone Riders vehicles have great difficulty traveling through these parts of the terrain and are stranded. They then take the nomads camels to an oasis. Tank dives in to swim, only to see Duchess Dire waiting for them, who disarms Max with a laser blast. Courage asks Sima to cover him, but he is betrayed and lassoed. Sima reveals that she made a deal with Overlord to lift the Zone on their villages in exchange for capturing the Zone Riders.

Courage tries to reason with Sima, but it is of no use. Reaching Amaran, Dire wants the prisoners. They meet with Overlord there, who demands the prisoners. Sima wants him to destroy the Generator first. Overlord instead commands his Zoners to show themselves in an ambush. Sima has a rifle however, and starts mass confusion as she fires at Overlord allowing the Zone Riders to escape. A shot by Hiro into one of the Zone's spherical pods destroys the generator. Sima fights back and confronts Overlord. They are then fended off by the Zone Riders. Sima recognizes the debt she owes to Courage. She informs Courage of the irrigation tunnels under the desert. They plan to sink the generators rather than explode them. Sima sends the Marish raiders to draw attention to the refinery and away from the generators. Overlord quickly realizes their plans and leaves to stop them.

In the tunnels, Tank and Max approach the generators, but Tank is ambushed by Duchess Dire. He escapes to aid Max however, and plants a charge. Razorback attacks Hiro and Kat in the tunnels also, but is disarmed of his blaster by Hiro. Kat stops him with her backpack weapon. They set a charge also. Max sets another charge and disables Razorback's tank. Courage and Overlord meet one on one in the tunnels, with Courage planting the final charge. Overlord commands withdrawal to the Intruder. The charges explode and the Generator sink beneath the desert, ending the SPIRAL ZONE in Amaran. Sima and Courage determine to fight together as friends from now on.

Items Noticed: Max's helmet contains an infrared vision similar to Tanks, except without the Grid pattern. Considering each of their specialties, Tanks' grid is most likely for accuracy in aiming his bazooka, while Jones' is primarily for scouting.

The pyrrhic nature of the SPIRAL ZONE conflict becomes apparent here by episode 15. At the end, the Zone Riders have gained a new ally and dezoned Amaran, but ultimately, what have they truly gained? Only what they had in the beginning of the episode, the Refinery. Many of these episodes take on a dark overtone, as the Zone Riders sometimes succeed in hurting Overlord's operations but other times just barely staving off defeat. Ultimately an episode in which only a few benefit - and one that must be tough for M.C.C. to take.

What do we learn? Sima Simai is the commander of the opposition forces in the Desert Wars who fought against Dirk Courage as well as being the leader of the Marish clan.

Goof ups: None apparent in this episode.
